Luftgekuhlt GB at Bicester Heritage 2018
For the first time, the world famous Luftgekuhlt Porsche event crossed the Atlantic and took up residence at Bicester Heritage for the inaugural LuftGB.
Featuring a complete assortment of air-cooled Porsche models (both road and race) from the 904 to the 911, with a helping of 356 and 550 in between, the Luftgekuhlt was a joy to walk round, despite it coinciding with an end to the hot weather the UK had been enjoying. The weather rarely puts a stop to UK activity (if it did, we’d never get anything done, see the Goodwood 76th Members Meeting for an example of this), and attendance at Luftgekuhlt (LuftGB) was still high despite the rain, with everyone enjoying the mix of cars on display, combined with the always excellent Bicester Heritage as a backdrop.
Wet weather is always a challenge to photographers, with the rain doing its best to soak equipment and cover lenses, as well as making it an altogether darker experience. However, water can add a helpful dimension to an image, with reflections in wet surfaces ensuring everyone tried to capture the same type of shot wherever a puddle could be found.
Below is a collection of images from the day, with two of the cars omitted as these are shown in their own galleries (Jagermeister/Momo Porsche 934 at Luftgekuhlt GB and Ruby Stone Porsche 964 at Luftgekuhlt GB).
