Chateau Impney Hill Climb 2018
For the second year in a row, the weather for the fantastic Chateau Impney Hill Climb was an absolute belter. Blue skies and sunshine, combined with the amount of tall trees on site meant that it was a photographers delight as cars on track darted between light and shade.
This year I did a lot more panning work (some successful, some not quite so much) as I tried my hand at some proper low speed shots. This year there was the added advantage of a new bridge over the track, meaning that the time to get from the best spots for panning to the paddock areas and back was much reduced, allowing a lot more flexibility in location choice.
Whilst the event was well attended, I imagine the fact that the England football team were playing on the Saturday afternoon caused a few people to stay away – one of those unfortunate consequences of the national team doing better than expected and making it through the group stage and first knockout match. This didn’t detract from the atmosphere of the event, which felt bigger and more polished than last year, and hopefully we will see the Chateau Impney Hill Climb continue to grow and attract more competitors to race up the hill.
