1978 Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick”

One of the real highlights of this years Goodwood 76th Members Meeting was seeing this 1978 Porsche 935/78 nicknamed “Moby Dick” due to its long tail and white paintwork. Photographed with two different sets of wheels, this car was drawing attention all weekend and proved tricky to get a clear shot of.

Optimised for the 1978 Le Mans, this car introduced water-cooled cylinder heads with four valves to improve reliability, and with a capacity increase to 3.2 litres, it ran with 845bhp. An engine change prior to the race though meant the car was not competitive, finishing 8th.
