TK Mak – 1970 Ferrari 512M Berlinetta
It is rare to see a single Ferrari 512M at a classic event, so seeing 5 at the 74th Members Meeting was an unbelievably impressive sight.
This particular Ferrari 512M (S/N 1030) currently owned and raced by TK Mak, was originally sold to Garage Francorchamps in 1970 (in 512S configuration), who entered the car into the 1000km de Francorchamps with drivers Derek Bell and Hughes de Fierlant where it finished 8th. The car was then raced in the 24h Le Mans with drivers Alistair Walker and Hughes de Fierlant where it finished 5th overall.
In 1971 the car was converted to M specification, but then failed to finish in that years 24h Le Mans, but did take a win at Zolder in the same year with Hughes de Fierlant as driver. Alain de Cadenet took brief ownership in 1971 before Anthony Bamford bought the car, ready for the 1972 Super Sports 200 Interserie with driver Willie Green. After this, the car ended up in the USA for a brief spell before being shipped to Japan, where it was shown in the Ferrari Museum of Art before moving to France.
