Paul Knapfield - 1970 Ferrari 512M

Paul Knapfield – 1970 Ferrari 512M

This 512M (S/N 1038) took second place at the 1970 1000km de Francorchamps driven by Jacky Ickx and John Surtees, but was then tragically involved in an accident at the 1970 Le Mans 24hr race that saw a marshal lose his life. This happened during a spell of heavy rain while Jacky Ickx was at the wheel. The car was a complete write off and was never rebuilt.

In 1990, Bob Houghton created a replica of the 512M based on S/N 1038, and then sold the car on to John Bosch, who then sold the car on to Paul Knapfield in 2007, and it is this car that is shown here.
